About the game

A classic text adventure - but you're not the one playing it. You're the game master for an idiot player named STEVE. Parse the player's enigmatic commands and decide how NPCs react to him. Who knew that running an RPG would be so frustrating?

Hardly the first text parser game I've played, but it's now one of my favorites! Who knew I could win without doing any typing myself... ; ) The UX is simple but flawlessly done. It's easy to get immersed. In a text-based game, the story is the most important aspect. And this one is great! The overall tone is heartwarming. While the game starts out quite lighthearted and funny, the plot in the back half takes some…

As someone who grew up with an Apple IIe, I tried the 2025 demo of this game, instantly recognized what was happening, and loved it! The "Stanley Parable"-style narration and sarcasm fused to DM'ing an Infocom-style text adventure with a slightly hostile CPU host completely won me over. From what I've played so far, it's holding up those expectations. I love this game.

It's not the game they advertise. It's not you and STEVE, it's the CPU and STEVE and you are having an ongoing conversation with the CPU. The CPU is a brat and regularly interrupts the story to whine about STEVE or very deliberately misinterpret or block your commands for no reason. The breaking point for me was lack of world consistency. STEVE managed to instigate a bar fight, and a dwarf threw their ale at the…
