About the game

In order to recapture her homeland, Yggdra gathers her allies and confronts the empire. "Yggdra Union" is a tactics RPG that features three elements: the "Union System", in which players team up with her allies to launch attacks, the exhilarating "Clash" through army battles, and the "Tactics Card".

One of my favorite strategy RPGs to this day. Not a huge fan of this rerelease's addition of unequipping items (it messes up the game's balance and intended experience), but if you just ignore that feature, it's far and away the definitive way to experience Yggdra Union. The interface is clunky, the game mechanics aren't clear, I want to make meaningful choices in games in order to enjoy seeing the result of my actions, and I don't really know what's going on mechanically. - I understand most of the mechanics, through a mix of tutorial info and guesswork, but some mechanics are just not explained well. Also having to look at the same squad vs squad fighting animation a million times…
