This gets a soft recommend. It was fine. It's got the usual Dragon Quest charms: good stories, endearing characters, rock solid old-school turn-based combats. But! It's like this game feels embarrassed to be what it is. The original Dragon Quest VII was infamous for being too long and slow, and to fix that, Square-Enix did not one, but two simplified versions of the same game. Reimagined is a streamlined remake of the 3DS version, that was already a streamlined version of the original Playstation game. Does this mean the game is barebones? No, it isn't, in no way. The game is fine and fun. The issue I have is the cut content if you want a better looking Dragon Quest 7 and came from the psX era like I did. Check out the 3DS version. Its everything that the Steam version isn't.
