Mortal Kombat 1 is honestly one of those games where I can just sit down and lose track of time. The graphics are absolutely insane. The characters, arenas, animations and especially the Fatalities look amazing. Everything feels really cinematic, and the amount of detail in the fights is crazy. I actually really enjoy the combat in this game and I like the format of the story mode cutscenes. However, I have to give it a thumbs down for the absurdly stupid and trite storyline. Without spoiling it, I'll say that it starts out good but quickly becomes complete and utter nonsense. On top of that, the lack of key characters from the original Mortal Kombat roster is just unforgiveable.
