The best way I can describe Daikatana is that it's an acquired taste. A lot of people will bounce off of this game for many reasons that I can honestly understand - for instance, the game is full of bullcrap enemy encounters, weapons that can easily self-damage you, a difficult opening episode, hard to see switches necessary for progression and two sidekicks that are more trouble than help. The butthurt reviews are not actually lying to you. This game really does just suck. It is poorly designed, the artstyle is all over the place. The writing is nonsensical. But it is at least somewhat interesting as it is still 1990s game design.
